The Tullahoma City Board voted Monday to restore funding to the Tullahoma Fine Arts Center.

The board had appropriated $10,400 for the center during the present fiscal year, but voted two weeks ago to withhold the funds until the center demonstrated that it was adhering to its charter.

"We're very excited to have the support of the city," said newly elected TFAC President Troy McFarland. "We have been such an underused asset in Tullahoma in past years. But we have plans to take the center in a new direction."

Restoration of city funding is crucial to arts center's reorganization effort. One of the biggest obstacles facing the TFAC board is money.

Over the last decade, the center's sources of funds dwindled. Board member Keith Moore said in August that there was about $2,000 in the center's checking account, with some other investments available. He also said TFAC owes Hollis over thirteen thousand dollars for a check she didn't cash in previous years.

According to the center's 990 tax return for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2008 and ending June 30, 2009, Hollis loaned $13, 476 to the center. The return also states the loan, made without a written agreement, was approved by the board of directors, which Hollis led.
