The South Jackson Street Band
The Sound of Big Band in Middle Tennessee
Founded in the early 70s by Bob Carter of Tullahoma, Tennessee, the South Jackson Street Band has established a name for itself as one of the finest Big Band repertory groups in the Middle Tennessee area.
This band has built its reputation from quality performance, outstanding musicianship, and extensive repertoire. Bringing the music of the Big Band era to life is the joy of its highly talented, professional musicians. They have championed the Big Band art from by offering a repertoire of over 300 songs from Glen Miller and Artie Shaw to the music of Duke Ellington and Elton John. The band features five saxophones, three to four trumpets, four trombones, drums, keyboard, rhythm/lead guitar, and bass guitar, male and female vocalist. Each musician has a strong background in his or her individual instrument. That coupled with an intense desire to bring to life the music of the Big Band era makes for an evening of pure musical bliss.
