Internationally Renown Dance Company to Appear at South Jackson Civic Center

It is amazing that a show of such prominence and international acclaim as the Tennessee Children's Dance Ensemble will be appearing in a small town in Southern Middle Tennessee, but South Jackson Civic Center in Tullahoma has arranged for this prestigious and costly touring dance troupe to do just that.

Now recognized as a world-class dance company, this dance ensemble of the utmost critically auditioned dance prodigies holds the distinction of being the only company made up of children to be included in Dance/USA, a juried organization made up of the best dance companies in the United States.

Every Tennessee Governor since 1982 has declared the touring ensemble to be the official goodwill ambassadors for Tennessee. To date the have taken bows on stages in Japan, London, Norway, Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia, Canada, Edinburgh, and Sri Lanka.

The Tennessee Children’s Dance Ensemble is a professional modern dance company, unique in that its artists range from 8 to 17 years of age. The Ensemble serves as proof of the high standard of artistic excellence that youth are capable of achieving. To see this group dance you would think they had been at this for even more than their tender years of existence. They move with fluid ease being seasoned professionals who have evolved through years of incessant feet that settled for no less than perfection.

These exceptional dancers inevitably will draw thunderous applause and standing ovations at South Jackson Civic Center on February 15, and even though it's the day after Valentines Day, advance tickets would delight anyone as a Valentine's gift since these artists inspire audience members of all ages.

The show is being presented by South Jackson Civic Association as a part of the Civic Center's Performing Arts Series for '07 - '08, and is being sponsored, in part, by the Tennessee Arts Commission.

Curtain time for the Dance Ensemble's appearance is 7:30 p.m., but ticket holders will want to arrive at 6:45 to visit the Mitchell Museum, which will be open admission free prior to the show. The museum is housed within the Civic Center and displays local and area history.
