POLK THEATER-CULTURAL ARTS
Funds Sought To Restore Former Theater
A group in Maury County is attempting to raise money to convert a former movie theater into a cultural arts center.
The Polk Theatre and Cultural Arts Center committee is raising funds for the purchase, renovation and restoration of the building which served as the Polk Theater for three decades, until its closure in 1983. The building, located at 903 South Garden Street, now houses a mattress store.

Plans include having a main floor theatre, an art gallery, classrooms and a ballroom.
According to organizers, the center will be a membership-based organization and will be able to offer discounts on its services due to generous contributions of foundations, individuals and the corporate community.
