The Sunshine Players

The Sunshine Players, now in its 18th season, is a teaching theatre for children ages 4-17 who want to learn about theatre and participate in plays and musicals. The process from auditions to performance is where the attention is focused. The Sunshine Players present a minimum of two productions per year. Last fall’s performance was Once on This Island Jr. and this spring will bring Storybook Easter.

The Patterson Park Ensemble Players

The Patterson Park Ensemble Players, now in its second season, is comprised of men and women who desire to study, interpret, create and produce plays, recitations and choral numbers depicting black history and culture. The Patterson Park Ensemble Theatre present a minimum of two productions per year. Past performances include Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun and Levy “Lee” Simon’s, The Bow Wow Club. Look for To Kill A Mockingbird in February.

Class Acts

CLASS ACTS is a theatre group for adults, seniors and home school students with daytime and evening performances. The group premiered last fall with Gooney Bird Greene and Her True Life Adventures based on the book by Lois Lowry.

Nutcrackin’

Nutcrackin’ is a hip-hop, jazz, rap, swingin’ version of the traditional Nutcracker ballet. This annual event debuted in 2005. An original production that showcases the dancing talents of the community, the show incorporates different types of dance as well as music. It’s a toe-tapping experience for the whole family.
