The Kitchen at The Arts Center Now Open
The Arts Center of Cannon County is proud to announce that award winning Chef Mitchell Murphree, current owner of Five Senses Restaurant in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has opened a new restaurant inside the Arts Center.
The new venture is called The Kitchen at The Arts Center.
The Kitchen will be open Thursdays and Fridays from 11am-2pm and 4pm-9pm, Saturdays from 4pm-9pm and Sundays for brunch from 10am-2pm.
The Kitchen will serve classic meat and three fare with a strong emphasis on local produce, scratch cooking and baking, and affordability.
Chef Murphree says he is very excited about the new opportunity, “I
can’t wait to get started, I grew up with both of my grandmother’s
making their own meat and threes for lunch in their homes. We are going
to take the approach of a country kitchen but with a very fresh and
local approach. You can come in and have a molasses glazed pork loin
with Readyville Mill grits, turnip greens with locally cured salt pork
and Mrs. Emmye’s mac and cheese. We will also be featuring fresh baked
desserts and homemade biscuits.

Chef Mitchell Murphree began his culinary training at a very early age by working in the family country ham business in his hometown of Paris, TN. His credentials include a degree of food science and technology from The University of Tennessee, Knoxville and a degree of culinary arts from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. Murphree has worked in many fine kitchens, including Highlands Bar and Grill in Birmingham, AL under world renowned chef Frank Stitt.
In
November 2004, Murphree and his sister opened up his their first
establishment, Five Senses Restaurant in Murfreesboro.
The Arts Center is located on 1424 John Bragg Highway, just west of the town of Woodbury, approximately 20 minutes from Murfreesboro, Manchester, and McMinnville and one hour southeast of Nashville.
Office hours are 10:00a.m. to 4:00p.m., Monday through Saturday.
